My favorite zymurgist and good friend Ratchet stopped by last week for a pre-Christmas gathering. We had some beer and cheese and chatted about, you guessed it, beer and brewing.
Schlafly Beer Dry-Hopped APA. Ol’ Saccy likes Schlafly’s so far and this one is good and hoppy. I can’t wait to try more of their beer!!
Boulevard Brewing Company Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale. This one has a nice tart taste with the spicy Belgian Yeast flavor and a little hop as well. I really enjoyed this one. Reminds me of my friend Bretti. I really need to call her. Thanks to Ratchet for bringing this beer and the next one.
Also from Boulevard Brewing Company Smokestack Series is the Double-Wide IPA. Pine, citrus and bitter. Very enjoyable! I love their bottle labels, really cool!
We had a growler of Schlafly Beer Coffee Stout from The Downtown Casual Pint. Extreme coffee flavor and I love it!
Chatoe Rogue First Growth Good Chit Pilsner. Mild floral nose with a smooth crisp taste.
It was a work night so we kept it calm and did mostly samples of each beer. It was a fun night! I am glad the Holiday is coming to a close and look forward to getting back in my routine of trying different beers at my favorite local pubs!
“Where do you think you’re going? Nobody’s leaving. Nobody’s walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We’re all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We’re gonna press on, and we’re gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he’s gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse.” — Clark Griswold, Christmas Vacation
