Merry Christmas to Ol’ Saccy. Only after all of the family festivities were over did Saccy start to enjoy the holiday weekend. A couple of friends came over for a mini beer tasting. We had a plate of cheese, crackers and salami. They brought in some really good beers and the fun began. It definitely saved Christmas at the last minute.
Green Man Brewery L’Homme Vert Winter Farmhouse Ale. This was such a nice beer and apparently quite rare. Thanks to Katie for bringing this.
Mother Earth Brewing Silent Night Imperial Stout. You definitely get that it is aged in bourbon barrels. Very big beer with a nice hint of vanilla.
St. Bernardus Abt 12. A very tasty Belgian Abbey Ale. I love the variety of this tasting session.
Foothills People’s BBL Aged Porter. Yummy. I love the original as well. Thanks Ratchet Claus!
In between the beers, we walked over to the movie theater to see Django (the D is silent). It was packed but we managed to score some good seats. We also packed a bag for the occasion. Had a couple of beers which, for obvious reasons, we did not photograph. I got a couple of sips of Oskar Blues Brewery OSKAr the Grouch. It was so good. I was totally in awe of this one and hope to obtain some more someday.
Blue Mountain Barrel House Blitzen, a very good Belgian Pale Ale. I kind of liked wearing the little cage thing around until I stumbled off of the bar since I couldn’t see a damn thing. At least I got a laugh.
Terrapin Side Project Liquid Bliss. Chocolate with a hint of peanut butter. Enough said! Yummy!
Sometimes the hairless primates I drink with use my small size for their own entertainment. Luckily I have a warped sense of humor and they are pretty funny most of the time.
“Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed – Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, ‘It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.’” — Deep thought, Jack Handy
